TODAY'S ? OF THE DAY IS.....
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS 'TRADITION'? Something you do almost every year...something that truly 'makes' your Christmas season? (ex: baking, caroling, etc)
Well there's alot! I really don't know which one to choose..... but deffinately one of my favorites, would be Christmas Eve night. It has ALWAYS been my favorite time of the entire Christmas season! It's been a special night filled with 'traditions' for as long as I can remember! Growing up, we'd always go to my G&G Hoffman's. It'd start in the afternoon when all the cousin's would make homemade pizza's. That's what we would have for supper that night, along with Gram's yummy homemade BBQ. Out in the sunroom would be a table FULL of PIES & GOODIES! And then there's the HUGE silver platter of cookies!! (this is sad...so far it's all about food!) But just being together for most of the day/night, then singing around the piano later, opening presents, of course, and playing games! Now with G&G gone, we've been spending it at M&D's, and have created our own traditions... like the chocolate fountain...appetizers...games...presents... However, I'm not so sure I'm truly ready for 'the magical Christmas Eve night' this year. With my Dad spending this Christmas with Jesus, and not having him here with us will hurt so bad! Last year was spent around his bedside..taking turns sitting with him, doing a puzzle, or reading...just trying to stay quiet. Trying to keep the kids downstairs so he could rest... then running downstairs to have our 'Christmas'...but the CONSTANT realization that he wasn't there to see the kids open their gifts...to see their excitment. There were no presents for 'DAD'...what could he possible need? But at least he was still 'with us'. (in a sense)
In my Bible Study group, our last lesson was on God's infinite GRACE...and I know He will again be faithful in giving us the GRACE to endure this Christmas season without Dad. But that doesn't mean there won't be pain, tears, or memories... SOMEDAY, Christmas Eve will be magical once again!

my favorite christmas tradition is one kirk and i started the year we got married. starting dec 1 every night we lay in bed and sing 1 chritmas song. i am much more into christmas than kirk so this is big on his part. it is so fun!
Growing up my family always opened up gifts Christmas Eve afternoon and then fondued. This is so much fun and about 4 years ago we started this with our family and the kids look forward to it each year. It's so fun! We use a broth mixture instead of oil and we do about 3-4 different meats, then we do a cheese/bread fondue and have fresh veggies to dip and we also do the chocolate fondue with fruit and angel food cake. Yummy! I can't wait for it again! Our prayers will be with you and all those that are celebrating Christmas this year with an empty seat. May God fill the void in your heart with sweet memories and may we continue down this jorney of life with new inspiration for meeting our goal. We have so much to look forward to.
